Projects

With experience and expertise across the spectrum of creating, managing and maintaining outdoor spaces, Xyst has had a big impact on communities throughout New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

Feel free to browse through the case studies below to find out how we have helped council, local government and other people working in the public sector to find solutions for projects.

Melton City Council
Xyst developed a Kindergarten Play Space Design Guidelines document for Melton City Council to help inform the ongoing maintenance, renewal, and upgrade of existing facilities, as well as the planning and design of new facilities, particularly during the new facility application phase.
Environment Canterbury
Xyst provided a review of Genesis Energy’s Recreation Assessment and evidence on behalf of Environment Canterbury as to the recreation and tourism effects of reconsenting the Tekapo Power Scheme.
Star Origin Hotel Management Limited
A comprehensive staged concept plan was prepared, including a review of all consent requirements, in order to undertake a full redevelopment of the Holiday Park
City of Port Phillip
The City sought to assess contract performance against the objectives and both general and specific requirements of two key service contracts. This included validating work quality and standards, evaluating effectiveness in meeting contractual obligations, and reviewing the level of customer complaints and responsiveness.
South Wairarapa District Council
Xyst conducted a comprehensive (Level 3) playground inspection on the Lake Ferry Playground for South Wairarapa District Council to determine compliance against the current NZ playground safety standards (NZS5828:2015) and make recommendations for remediation and/or replacement.
City of Port Phillip
The City of Port Phillip aimed to enhance service delivery for specific aspects of parks and open space maintenance within the municipality. Key objectives included improving customer responsiveness, establishing clear performance metrics, and developing robust service contract documentation to support these goals.
Ōtorohanga District Council
Our independent playground safety inspections were carried out in accordance with NZS 5828:2015, and provide clear, unbiased reporting, helping Ōtorohanga District Council’s asset team make informed decisions about the safety of their public playground equipment and surfacing.
Tararua District Council
Our work has helped Council understand the extent and condition of the public tree population in the district. Having an inventory of trees enables efficient management of risks, forward planning and works prioritisation.
Napier City Council
Xyst worked with Napier City Council to assess the cities’ public water features and fountains – making practical recommendations to reduce the risk of accidental drownings.
